GLPI 10’s Support Gap

GLPI 12’s stable release on 7 October 2026 ended ordinary GLPI 10 support. Installations keep running.

Ordinary cover no longer includes bug fixes, security updates or GLPI Network assistance. GLPI Network Extended Support is the exception; check entitlement, not just subscription.

A helpdesk can be central to an outage without being the component that failed. If it is where staff find recovery instructions, assign work and track unresolved incidents, its reliability belongs in the recovery plan, not just the application inventory.

The upgrade reaches beyond GLPI

Upgrade directly to GLPI 12 with PHP 8.3, MariaDB 10.11 or MySQL 8.0, and compatible plugins.

Knowledge Base categories become hidden articles needing reassigned permissions. GLPI-to-internal-network requests are blocked by default. Earlier APIs remain; explicitly select v3.

A login proves access, not support coverage or recovery.

Rehearse the service desk you depend on

Use a production copy for testing, then a maintenance window with a complete backup and tested rollback.

Consider an outage handover. Another technician needs to understand what has already been tried, what remains broken and where the recovery instructions are. That is a useful service-desk test scenario, not a publisher-reported incident.
